Have you always wanted to get into instructing and coaching climbers but don’t know where to begin? Fear not City Bloc can help get you started on the climbing coach pathway. We regularly host BMC FUNdas workshops and Mountain Training Foundation Coach and Development Coach courses and have more courses in the pipeline, including routesetting courses. There are also opportunities to work as a volunteer instructor to enable you to gain more experience on the ground for your Dlog.

BMC Fundamentals of Climbing 1
17th MARCH 2026
BMC Fundamentals of Climbing 1 is an introductory workshop within the coaching pathway that builds core movement understanding, technical awareness, and safe, effective practice for climbers starting their development towards coaching or instructing.
BMC Fundamentals of Climbing 2
18th MARCH 2026
BMC Fundamentals of Climbing 2 is an introductory workshop within the coaching pathway that builds on Fundamentals 1 by developing movement observation, technical understanding, and the ability to analyse and improve climbing performance.
Mountain Training Foundation Coach Training
19th MARCH 2026
The Foundation Coach qualification is the first step on the climbing coaching pathway. It introduces the core skills required to plan, deliver and reflect on coaching sessions, with a focus on developing fundamental climbing movement.
BMC Fundamentals of Climbing 3
24th MARCH 2026
BMC Fundamentals of Climbing 3 is an introductory workshop within the coaching pathway that builds on Fundamentals 2 by developing applied coaching skills, movement analysis, and the ability to structure sessions to support climber development.
BMC Physical Training For Climbing 1
25th MARCH 2026
This workshop is designed for climbers and coaches looking to expand their knowledge of physical training. While technique, tactics, and mental approach are crucial for improvement, this workshop focuses on creating performance adaptation through physical training.
