See Our Space

Since 2009, City Bloc has called Airedale Works home, a former Victorian train foundry on Leeds South Bank, packed with character and history. Our walls cover all angles: slabs that test your footwork, vert for steady moves, a steep roof, and traverse walls. Plus, there’s a dedicated competition wall for those after a proper challenge.

Our training gym has everything you need, no fancy extras, weights, fingerboards, pull-up bars, spray wall, campus board, wooden training board, and an adjustable kilter board. Upstairs, the mezzanine’s a chilled spot for yoga, stretching, or just catching your breath and chatting.

When you need to refuel, our café serves North Star coffee, Cakes from Jodie’s, snacks, and a cold Northern Monk beer and some fancy teas from True Tea. We also have changing rooms, a shower, and indoor bike storage.

The Climbing Gym

Training Area

Our training area is designed for serious climbers, featuring an adjustable Kilter Board, a 45-degree woodie, and a 40-degree spray wall for advanced technique development. The space also includes a campus board and a small gym with squat racks, dumbbells, kettlebells, a lat pulldown machine, and a hamstring curl machine, plus pull-up bars. For grip training, we have a fingerboard station with a Smart Training Board, perfect for improving finger strength and conditioning.

Yoga, Calesthenics & Chill Out Space

This is the ideal spot to relax and enjoy a coffee while watching climbers crush it on the competition wall. The space also serves as our Yoga area, comfortably accommodating up to 12 people for sessions. We’ve recently added a calisthenics zone, equipped with rings, pull-up bars, a Swedish ladder, dip bars, and an 8ft tall wall for stretches and suspension training.

Reception and Cafe

We offer a selection of teas, coffees and snacks. Perfect to refuel during a climb or to relax whilst you watch your kids climb.

You can also buy climbing supplies such as liquid chalk, climbing tape and brushes from reception, for more specific climbing gear such as shoes and boulder pads please speak to a member staff and we can order it in at a competitive price.

Bike Storage

It has been really important that we provide secure facilities for bikes, so you can arrive without a car and we can support the Low Carbon Emissions Scheme set out by Leeds City Council. We want to encourage as many City Bloc visitors as possible to travel by bike. We have installed safe indoor storage for 13 bikes.
