Kids & Young Climber guidelines.
Bringing kids or young climbers to City Bloc? Here’s what you need to know before you climb.
We want everyone to have a good session, whether they’re brand new, building confidence, or already crushing harder than the adults. These guidelines help keep the centre safe, fun and respectful for all climbers.
City Bloc is a proper climbing wall, not a soft play area, so young climbers need the right level of supervision and awareness while they’re here.
- Supervision & Age Groups
- All under 18s must have a registered adult present in the centre throughout their visit.
- Ratio: One adult can supervise up to two children or teens (max 1:2).
- Non-Climbing Adults:
- Just here to supervise? No problem. You’ll need to register and stay present, but there’s no charge if you’re not climbing.
- Ages 2-13:
- Must have constant adult supervision.
- Please note: for safety reasons kids in this age group cannot use the gym or competition wall.
- Ages 14-17:
- Can climb with increased independence, but an adult must stay in the building.
- Please note that for insurance purposes, ages 14-17 are not permitted to use the gym.
- Under 18 Registration:
- All under 18s must have a registration form completed by a parent or guardian who is supervising them. If the parent or guardian is also climbing, they’ll need to complete the adult registration form as well.
- Junior Assessment (14-17s):
- To climb without direct supervision, 14-17 year olds must pass a junior assessment. A PARENT OR GUARDIAN MUST BE PRESENT DURING THE ASSESSMENT to complete the Unsupervised Climbing Registration Form. A junior assessment costs just £5.
